Is "the Audi, 8 year, 80,000 mile warranty" a general condition or something pertaining to your car only?

My impression is that it is a standard warranty for Audi in the USA. Apparently the TCM, PCM and any Catalytic converters are covered under the 8 Year, 80K warranty.

Hello,

To all of you who have been following this thread:

I finally gave up, and after 6 months of waiting for a miracle, i went to my local Audi dealer and paid $2500 for a new TCM.

To try and balance me back a bit, i would like to try and sell my old TCM. As you can recall, it does not shift into reverse
unless you put it in neutral for a second or so. I am asking for $700. If you have a TCM that does not work at all, this
is a good and cheap solution (I drove with it in this condition for 6 months).

If you are good with electronics, i am almost sure it can be fixed.

I can send pictures to anyone who is interested. The Audi part number is 01J-927-156-CL.

I drive an 2003 A6, 3000 cc engine.

Nir.

I could help you guy's getting a replacement TCU. I still have some good contacts to Germany. Installation in the GTA isn't a problem either. And for sure not even close to $250 Labour.
PM me your exact Bosch number off your TCU. Should look like this:

Angry Re: TCM problem

I have a 2004 TT roadster. Today I had some kind of transmission failure. I was driving along at about 40MPH and the transmission down shifted to first gear and stayed there. I have the 3.2L with the 6 speed DSG transmisson. As it happens the car was turning 60K miles at the exact time this happened. The PRNDS lights became backlit and are flashing.

The flashing PRNDS lights are similar to the posts above. Has anyone else had or heard of this type of failure?

Hi All,
I came across this thread while searching for solution to my problem I am so frustrated with my Audi A4 I have already spent so much of money in the past and now I got this TCM issue too! ...last week when I started my car at night, it started to flash PRND sign. When I reversed and drove forward, it disappeared. Then for next few days nothing happened. Then again it flashed once in the morning, and then the next day once. Now today I noticed that it constantly keeps flashing even when I am driving. I am so concerned. While researching I found that TCM unit may have some issue. Dealer has given me appointment for couple of days later but trying to find any solution meanwhile. Please Help!! My questions -

1.) Is it safe to drive while 'PRND' keeps flashing while driving? I do not have any other form of commute right now and need to drive it until I take it to the dealer.

2.) No mechanic/auto shop is willing to work on TCM issue and everyone is advicing to go to dealer for this. The only folks who said they can also fix it are AAMCO. Does anyone have any experience with them?

3.) Anything you can suggest me? Dealer says if there is no smaller issue and TCM unit needs to be replaced then it would cost me around 2500 or more depending on whether they will have to order it from Germany or they can get it locally!!

What should I do? And (repeat) - can I drive it while PRND keeps flashing??

Please help..
