You might not know what was in (mineral?)before you switched to 0-40.

The fact is that Mobil 1 Extended performance (much more "full" synthetic than regularar Mobil 1) does not have 0-40.
Let's not start a discussion about oils...
It has nothing to do with oil - it is your coolant leaking and lack of pressure

You need to replace the seal on your pump, the pump itself and when you do it the timing belt and tensioner as these parts are already eaten by the antifreeze.
In case you do not do it your oil temperature will be going up and up to 160 where you get warning lite and the engine starts to boil. By now your car developed air bubbles and you will not have any heat inside the car during winter. Check your heat now it is not as hot as it used to be - right?
There is one last possibility other than coolant leaking.
In case you have 2 extra liters of oil in your engine your oil will be hotter. Check the level if you overfilled.

If you are losing coolant your coolant tank may not indicate so if there is air in the system, remove air by removing your tank fill cap (only while the the engine is COLD) start the engine and let it idle, until the temp starts to rise and check to see if you need to add to the tank, (raising the front of the car some also helps get air out of the engine and back to the radiator where it can make its way back to the tank), if you have to add.. some air came out, once full screw the cap back on and let the engine warm up, take a drive if you will and see if the oil temp changes, repeat the procedure if needed. The tank if too full will push fluid out the overflow under the cap and bottom of tank, don't mistake this as a leak, however if your tank gets to full from more air in the system then adamstaiak is spot on....

A good price for full synthetic approaches $10/L and above.
To start with, price is often not a good indicator of oil quality; however, can be used as a guideline. Only Group IV and Group V oils are synthetic (PAO and Ester base stock respectively). In North America, all of the oil companies are allowed to market Group III oils (which are not synthetic at all) as synthetic oils. Mobil1 actually filed a complaint against Castrol for using the term 'synthetic' for Group III oils; and, when Castrol was able to convince a regulatory commission that it was just to market under this misnomer, of course the other oil companies followed suit, including Mobil1.

Many of Mobil1's products are not synthetics, rather they are Group III or Group III/IV blends. Mobil1 had a history of bragging about their PAO-only base stock (Group IV, which is a real synthetic), yet conspicuously stopped mentioning using synthetic stocks in all of their advertising several years ago. Any inquiries to them about this garners nothing but diversion, and more BS marketing terminology. That's enough for me to assume that they've stopped using PAO and Ester stocks for most of their oils. Oil analyses suggest that many Mobil1 variants are Group III/IV blends.

Hey guys i am having alit of trouble with cooling issues. Bith aux fans quit working. I have an 03 allroad 2.7t. I have hard wired them and nothing. Got used fan and hard wired it and nothing. So question is how do you hard wire them to test. I am not doing correctly.
Also another question does anybody know a site where i can get location of aux fan relay, afcu( aux. Fan control unit) and switches for high and low speeds. Are the switches in the fan and is that why i cant hard wire them?

Also i am having alot of issues with high oil temps. Im talking 70 degree day on average right now. And i am running 250 degrees!!. Got oil change put a European full sythetic pzl platuro sae 5w 40. Oil pressure light quit poppin up. But still have high oil temps.
Now one question.could old intercoolers be a sign of high oil temps? And to go with first question where in the hell are the relays and ecus fir aux fans!!!?

As for people with what they think is thermostat issues . i thought mine was bad. But i let it warm up and felt liwer radiator hose. Hose was just as close to being as hot as top. So i knew i had water circulating. So i did a radiator flush. Fallowed all directions and as soon as i drove anywhere i over heated. Mind you i have purged system 4 times to release air allready. After overheat it has not overheated one time. Bleed your system many times . check and check! All that made me overheat was an air pocket.
