Default a6 3.0t not so reliable

The Porsche Boxster has the best predicted reliability in our survey, while the Audi A6 3.0T and Jaguar XF have the worst.

Consumer Reports' most reliable cars - Yahoo! Autos Canada

that said most of the audi models are not that good according to consumers reports.

says VW is better...LOL

Would you switch as a result of the survey?

No... but just wanted to bring that to the attention of a6ers.

I thought Audi was improving things the past few years.

it's funny cuz if Vw/Audi wants to be the largest car producer in the world they gotta get better on the realiability side of things.... a little closer to Honda/Toyota who obviously make the most realiable cars on the market.

They are. How many newer VW/Audi's do you see in the shop? Not nearly as many as there used to be. They're making leaps and bounds as far as reliability. Some might even say triple-axles. But they still have quite a bit left to go if they want to catch up to Honda/Toyota.

Do not believe it at all.

This comes from the fact that people tend to ask the stealer how much does it cost to do the maintenance and they tend to go to the backyard mechanics to do the repairs at the fraction of the cost. This results in total disaster soon after as these mechanics often have no idea what they are doing. Typical disaster mistakes include the following common notions:

All antifreeze is the same
Brake fluid is just brake fluid
Spark plug is just a spark plug
All gasoline is the same
Audi brakes are a nightmare, why did I take this job?

Such a mechanic can save you $200.00 today but will cost you $3,000.00 a couple of months from now.

Not all German cars are the same. We can not compare BMW with VW/AUDI and Mercedes.
BMW is a private company and they do their own thing.
VW/AUDI is backed by the German Government in terms of research and development. They are essential for their national defense and produced terrible killing machines during WWII.

To prove that please touch plastic part in BMW and than touch plastic part in your Audi during minus 30 degree weather. You will feel cold right in your bones in case of BMW and AUDI plastic will feel acceptable. This is the result of research during Russian campaign in 1942.
The same applies to the quality of radio sound developed during bombing of London when they had to fly from Norway to reach England. I can go on. Too bad that many developments are a result of war. Quattro was needed by the Germans as there are no roads in Russia.

Now think about this... When you are on the road going 120 km/hr and there is a deer right in front of your hood, how reliable a Toyota or Honda will be....?

Beter yet consider Canadian Military. They bought Leopard tank as their main battle tank. The machine is related to AUDI and VW. They would never buy it if it was not reliable or they would choose Mitsubishi tank instead.

Your AUDI is an off shot of what is on the picture, so just take care of it and will pay you back!
