'01 A6 2.7T Fuel Consumption

Re: '01 A6 2.7T Fuel Consumption
Can you elaborate on what you did to improve milelage? I suspect my Tip will never be able to do as well as a manual. I have K04's with aftermarket downpipes, high flow cats and an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, making fuel pressure adjustments only seems to change the accuracy of the milelage counter..

I worked on a custom tune with VAST, also tweaked part throttle fuel trims using Lemmiwinks. My fuel trims on block 032 vagcom engine are very near 0%. There are also other things you can try, I found that sometimes driving at a slightly higher RPM,different motor efficiency actually achieved better fuel mileage.

Re: '01 A6 2.7T Fuel Consumption
Now I work far from home and I mostly do highway driving, I average lately 600-650km per fuel tank and trust me when I say MY FOOT IS STILL HEAVY. I get that mileage flying down 140km/h and over 70% of my trip down to work.
and let me add that I removed my catalytic converter because they were clogged with crap and it was causing my temp sensors to fail. So I thought not only would I gain 1-2psi on my turbos but my fuel consumption would rise BUT i didnt see a crazy increase of fuel consumption but I did feel the car is pushing a bit more. Hope this helps.

You should be getting 12 to 13 liters per hundred km in the city.
Things to check are:
Tires - what do you have? In general if you have fancy like "Sumitimoto AHASUKA NIPPO**** RXS DX RPM ZOOM" and they claim to be so good it is nothing good. Just get Michelin.
Tire Pressure - it is not 32 psi as per average Canadian Mechanic - the car is not a Ford. It should be 40 psi minimum.
Spark Plugs - Forget Champion and similar V GROVES, check either the plug is made in Japan and do not buy it. Your plug needs kick - use 4 Bosh Platinum or Iridium. They generate 4 sparks at once so fuel burns better.
Be warned about Iridium - the car runs out of control above 160 km/hr and behaves like a jet airplane.
I had fun with them in Oregon this year passing American Muscle cars as if they were parked.
(They had to slow down on the curves to 180 and I did not feel the need for it on a Quattro)
Got fists and fingers and also respect at the end of it.
Battery - Replace it every 3 years. With old battery you do not get enough AMPS to power all electronics properly.
Gas - switch gas stations and find the one that your car likes.
Air Filter - How old is it - AUDI NEEDS lots of air I use K&M or something like that
Gas Additives - Add fuel injector cleaner every 2 months
Hand Brake - it can be stuck. Check either the brakes are hot.
Carbon in the engine - add Seafom to gas or Techron from Chevron - it works!
Air Throttle - Use DEEP CREEP to clean it, or just spray your air filter with it and drive.
Tiptronic - when I use Tiptronic the milege is better but I do not know why?

Re: '01 A6 2.7T Fuel Consumption
Did you use any other type before or is it all you know? I am just trying to get the feeling for it as I used them on my Jetta 20 years ago and I remember being happy about them. They lasted 20,000 km as I remember.
