Quattro spinning wheels

Quattro spinning wheels
There’s been more than one occasion my front (both) wheels spinning, rear wheels not moving.
I’m puzzled – this should not supposed to happen on Quattro (with al Torsen and other-visco? differentials??
What is the EDL for, if allows spinning?
(I'm wondering what happens on a dyno with only front wheels on rollers?)

Re: Quattro spinning wheels
what year is your car? Does it have EDL? Also, I'm not sure if EDL does anything for front/back power distribution, if so, does the abs work?(EDL is just ABS on the spinning wheel)

Thanks for taking time for answering.
Quattro is what makes Audis special.
If there is no confidence in Quattro's operations one could imagine the results on the general acceptance and trust.

Re: Quattro spinning wheels
There is something wrong with your car i would say because the quattro has a limited slip differential to my knowledge, and also distributes the power to the wheels that are not slipping. It is a 40/60 setup on newer cars. Meaning 40% of the power is distributed to the front and 60% to the back. It also distributes power to the maximum grip wheel I guess is a simple way of putting it. but you just sitting there and stepping on the gas while front wheels only spin... you got a problem.
If just the front wheels are spinning then maybe it's FWD only or someone has taken out the rear driveshaft. If the torsen centre diff. broke then the car probably wouldn't go anywhere or it would make lots of noise from the transmission.

Re: Quattro spinning wheels
Quattro/Torsen setup puts down 50% front and 50% to the rear wheelsin normal driving and can alter from 90/10 to 10/90 front/rear torque output depending on which wheels are slipping. When I spin my tires in the snow it's all 4, makes the car kind of unpredictable. I am going to have to put some snow tires on it next winter.

Um No its a 60 % back 40% front try researching a little bit more. I have a friend who works at the Audi dealership here locally and it is often missunderstood to a 50/50 but he told me it was more like a 40/60 roughly try searching other forums and you'll see I know from personal experiance that it is a 40/60
