Default A6 water pump

I am getting the over heating warning light on my A6. there is plenty of coolant. Is there a test I can do to see if my water pump has gone bad?

Well first i would start looking at your thermostat before looking at your water pump ..

There is a huge problem with the plastic water pumps. Get it to the dealer immediately. There is an un official recall. They are replacing them with metal pumps.

Do not even think of driving this car. The overheating will damage your power steering, transmission, sensors, hoses and more. It looks like waterpump or the seal around it.

Guys,

Call your dealership. Tell them you heard about the " plastic water pump " issues and you want your pump replaced prior to it breaking and causing major damage. They will do it immediately. i don't know what year you have but on the 2009 models they are being replaced by the ton. Going from plastic to metal.

Where did you get that info from?

"plastic water pump " recall - is just a hoax.

Audi does not hide recalls from the public.

Replacing a water pump is $1.5G work???

BTW-his car is '96 -recalls?

Look if your fans operate properly.
on 2.8 engine one could replace the thermostat with tb on.

When was your tb replaced?

HOAX ?? What are you talking about. I just had mine replaced 2 weeks ago.Lets not be naive. They will hide a problem like any other manufacturer on the planet until they have no choice. I guess the oil burning issue on the 2.0 Turbo is also a hoax ? I think not.

If you have a close relationship with your service guy he will gladly tell you that there is a major problem on the 09 A6 models with a plastic water pump. They break and cause a lot of damage so they have a new replacement part that they will only change if they have no choice.

Sorry buddy, but they most definately will hide this from the public as long as they can.
