Re: My imported a4- drl won't pass riv inspection
The U.S. A4 models have the DRL on off in the headlight switch. If you're importing get the U.S. dealer to bypass it .No reprograming required just a disconnect of some wires for $20 . There are some models where the on /off is in the electronic dashboard menu .

Re: My imported a4- drl won't pass riv inspection
Hi all,
Could someone describe again how to pop out the DRL switch to gain access to the wires (A4 2.0T 2008 ) ? I don't want to apply force the wrong way and break something.
THANKS!

Re: My imported a4- drl won't pass riv inspection
I imported an 09 B7 Convertible last spring, it already had the DRL coded (with the switch) but the switch allows it to be turned on and off. All I did was disconnect the switch for the inspection (defaults to DRL on) - the coming home/leaving home switch didn't work until I put it back on.
I suppose you could have figured out which wires to disconnect from the switch to keep the coming home/leaving home function working, or just replace the switch pod to a Canadian one.
To remove the DRL on/off switch thing put the headlight switch in the off position, push it in and turn it to the right (and pull out while holding it to the right). It will come out and then you can just pop the other switch out from behind, should take a min or two MAX.
Hope that helps someone, anyone in the GTA needing help, I can code it with the vagcom and show you how to do the switch.
BTW can tire may talk about the switch just tell them the DRL switch was disabled (which it is) and DRLs are always on. Tell them you coded it like a canadian model, disabling the switch and there is no reason for failing it. The only part of the law is that the DRLs are on and not able to be switched off.

My question is this. How in the world would a Canadian Tire techie know that there was a switch inside the car that turned off the DRL's? The experience I've had with Canadian Tire shop guys is that if you received their combined IQ in dollars, you couldn't buy a hotdog with it. Just turn the damn DRL's on and Bob's your uncle.
