Hi All,

Can you share your thoughts about the yearly cost or cost in general on routine maintenance for an A4? Are they generally reliable? I’m doing some research on the Internet but would like to hear from you guys…

I’m browsing for a new car (in particular the 2011 A4), and some of my friends tell me that it can eat up your wallet.

If you are purchasing a new A4 get the Audi Care package, and besides most things are covered under warranty. How many of your friends own Audis? What do they own? Like anything the better you maintain the car the longer it lasts. The general yearly cost would be on par with any other luxury new car you purchase. I know its vague and I probably didn't answer your question.

First, welcome to the forum

My audi is a 97 a4. All i have to do is oil changes every 5-6k. Even though the recommended interval is much bigger but hey i love my audi. But i guess because of that, it doesn't give me any problems other than the regular wear and tear that you can expect of a 14 year old car. Things such as control arms, wheel bearings, and such. But those are just one time each though. Nothing chronic.

Overall i would say yes my audi is more costly to maintain compared to my sisters' subaru and volvo. But that's only because they do theirs at recommended intervals, and i do mine because i want to. Other than that, i would say it's about the same.
