Low engine oil warning

Low engine oil warning
I have a '09 Avant purchased back in April09. The car currently has 6500km.
Just this weekend, the low engine oil warning light came on indicating that I need to add 1L of engine oil to the car. Just wondering, is this normal? When I called a local dealer to setup an appointment to have the car looked at, he indicated this is quite common with Audi. However, I have driven several BMWs before this car, and I have never had to add engine oil ahead of a schedule maintenance. Just wondering if this really is common among Audis.

Re: Low engine oil warning
I have an 09 A4 Avant as well.
I had the same issue at around 8000km's. I ended up adding a half a litre of oil and then had my first service oil change done in December 09.
I'm at around 16,000Km's now and my oil level is low again. It looks like I have to add more oil again. But, this time my next scheduled maintenance/oil change is supposed to be at 24,000Km's.
I've been told by the dealer that this is 'NORMAL' for a 2.0L Turbo engine. All the cars i've ever owned, i've never had to add oil between maintenance intervals. i could understand if i had to add oil if beyond the regular interval, or if I were an agressive driver (which I am not); but this just doesn't seem right.
Sure, Audi tells me that their vehicles have extended maintenance intervals. But, it really seems like they can have extended maintenance windows for oil changes because I'm always adding fresh oil.
I talked to the dealer today, and they said that oil top-ups are NOT covered by my Audi Care package. Shouldn't this type 'maintenance' be covered under Audi Care? Afterall, it's considered 'NORMAL' required maintenance.

Re: Low engine oil warning
I understand that it seems to be a very 'normal' thing for Audi's. However at my rate, I'll need to add almost 2.5-3 litres of oil before my next maintenance. Shouldn't this be something that is covered under Audi Care?
It just would make more sense to either include oil top-ups between regular maintenance or shorten the oil change maintenance window covered under Audi Care.
