I was needing to put about 1L per oil every 1000km oil. It got really bad and engine just completely stopped working. I now need to replace the engine. Ever since I had this car (Audi A4 2009), I have had oil consumption issues

Hi, we have had exact same problems with our 2009 Audi. I was told by my mechanic today that there was a settlement made regarding the issues with this car. so I was trying to find out if the settlement applies to us in Canada as well. we had to spend close to 5000$ out of pocket to fix the problem regarding the oil consumption last year. I have all the documents if necessary. You can include me in this suit as well!
here is my email address : padibmehr@yahoo.com
Thanks

just contact Audi Canada... they will give you a warranty extension for 8 years or to 130,000 kms if your engine is one of the affected ones. this is , I believe, Audi Canada's reaction to the settlement in the USA. I just bought my 2011 A5... was pretty simple to execute. hope this helps.

Soo...what's the status of this Class Action suit?

I am perfectly willing to join in, but haven't heard a peep from the OP.
Are we settling for our vehicles to burn 1L every 2000+ Km's?

This is what Audi Canada states..."If your vehicle consumes less than .5L every 1000Km's, it is considered normal".

Ok...I have driven over a dozen different vehicles in my driving career, NONE have ever consumed oil at this rate. The worst was "maybe" 1/8th every 8000Km's.

My last vehicle was a 2003 VW Jetta 1.8 Turbo, heavily modified producing over 300HP and 300FT/Lb's of torque.

It currently has 290,000+ Km's...doesn't consume a drop of oil.

So where is this thread/class action going?

I have read your posts and I will considered myself very lucky, I guess.
I purchased brandnew in 2009, A4 manual transmission and since my purchase I have to add about one liter at mid-point between oil service, which are 10,000km.
So my oil consumption has been pretty steady since brand new.
1 liter per 5,000 km, so by the time I have to go for an the enxt oil change the MMi tell me to add one oil and then I'm due.
The car now has 91,700 km and doesn't appear to burn more oil.
I'll keep follwoing your post.

I am in talks with a law office in Ottawa willing to open a Canada wide class action case against Audi Canada for Oil burning or consumption.

Audi of America has recently settled in a class action suit with our southern neighbours (USA) to the tune of over 23 million dollars. Even covering the cost of previous engine work done to Audi engines at Audi dealerships.

The issue, as many of you know, lies in the piston rings being incorrect from the factory. Audi has known this since 2008. It is a world wide problem
There is a new design for piston rings, pistons, and connecting rods for the CAEB engine.

If you have a CAEB 2.0 engine burning oil , 1 liter per 1000kms - give or take.
If you paid out of pocket for the oil consumption test part 1 or 2 you could also be reimbursed. Please contact me through audi forum.ca, if you want more info.

I have many links as well as the legal documents for the case that closed this past October 2014.

I am helping the law office build a plaintiff list. This is a class action suit with hundred or potentially thousands of plaintiffs, there will be no upfront cost to anyone, just information sent to the law office, not to me.
To fins out if your engine is the CAEB you can call your local dealer with your VIN#.

I will happily pass you the information of the law office, or vice versa, I am happy to act as a middle man.
Many of us have been living with this problem for far too long. We paid a premium for the Audi name and its heritage and its far time Audi correct this issue.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

Same position I was in,Audi dealerships are finding any sort of excuse to void the warranty,if you do any sort of mods or can't prove even one oil change they wont fix the oil issues. What a joke Audi/VW has become.I was never treated like this at Mercedes. So who do I contact about joining the class action?

Hello
My name is Brandon , I recently bought a 2009 A4 2.0t Quattro. Two days after getting it, the min oil light came on. I bought from a non Audi dealer and he had done an oil change and told me it must be a sensor. He said his mechanics could look at it 2 days after I called him. During thoes 2 days, with calling Audi dealerships and doing some online research of my own I came to learn that Audi has an extended warranty and will replace the Pistons on these cars the SIN number of my vehicle falls under this warranty. The catch was I needed all service records for Audi to fix the problem. The dealer I bought wasn't an Audi dealer and I have been kind of going through the ropes with him. Instead of taking it back to him after learning this I took to an Audi dealer in the west end and they basically told me to try and return the car to the dealer I sold to because without maintenance records I will be out a lot of money for the engine rework that my car needs. By the way.... I have gotten a proper oil change done, as my third party warranty company advised me to do and I have recorded 1litre of oil consumed per 1000kms give or take, and I've put only 4000kms on it. The dealer I bought from wants nothing to do with me really , so seeing what you have wrote I'm just curious and I will ask straight out.... The situation I am in, I am pretty much screwed to have Audi fix my car with out all maintence records? Am I Screwd? Lol thanks for any help anyone could give me
