2009 A4 sport: Anyone else disappointed by the Pirelli P7?
I was expecting nice sticky tires on the A4 with the sport pack since they are "summer performance tires" but I am quite disappointed by them (Pirelli P7 Cinturato). They squeal like banshees in semi-aggressive cornering and don't stick to the road that much. Unless Audi wants us to test the ESP at low speeds by providing these tires?
I'm only at 1300km with them so I haven't done any aggressive driving yet due to the break-in period but so far I'd say that they suck. Or maybe I was expecting too much since my previous car had falken azenis RT-215 on it?

i gotta say I couldn't disagree more.... I have a set of the P7's on my 2.0T B8 Premium, Sport Package, and I've had a hard time breaking traction on them. My previous ride was a 03 Jetta GLI with a set of Bridgestone Potenza Pole postions... absolutely amazing summer tires, and these ones don't look more agressive, but I think with the combination of the AWD and the better suspension, I've been very satisfied with the P7's... so far. At 2300K so far and they've broken in nicely... little louder than the Bridgestones (likely due to not having the same solid rubber strip down the centre) but they've been good for traction. It might have something to do with temps... I see you're in Ottawa and it's been a little chilly here (TO) and there lately. I know that these guys don't do too well in temps below 5-8C so that might have something to do with it. They become more pliable and road-gripping in hotter temps, but as a downside, they harden up and don't stick too well in the colder temps. All the more reason to put on the winter rubber in October or so, I guess.
I assume you've got the same setup.... Sport package (18's?)???
Just my opinion... can't say I've been too hard on them yet, but I've found it very difficult to find the breaking point so far.

I have the sport package also on mine... But I guest, I was very lucky to have the Michelin PS2 on it, it's awesome tire to tell you the true!

Well it's confirmed. I HATE the friggin P7. They are terrible. I just took a fast turn and they squealed like crazy and gave up too early. It's definitely not the car, the suspension was performing flawlessly in that turn.
