Re: 2009 A4 Fuel Economy not matching advertised rates?
On the highway I can get it down to 8.5l/100, but only getting 10l/100 in the city. I'm hoping it's just from the engine breaking in, otherwise it's a little disappointing.

I wish I had an A4 when I was 19. That'd be nice. But really, there's nothing wrong with young people having nice cars, as long as they understand how lucky they are.

Re: 2009 A4 Fuel Economy not matching advertised rates?
What's going on with my car's fuel economy?
I've driven my (family's) new 2009 A4 2.0T for about 900Kms, and my average fuel economy (throughout the 900kms) according to the trip computer is 13.2L/KM. I've reset the trip computer since getting the car from the dealer so this rate is all me.
The rates given by Audi are:
City: 9.0L/KM
Highway: 6.5L/KM
Thats significantly better than what I've been able to get!!@?
Before the required lesson about driving style, let me give you the low down:
I drive a fair combination of both highway and City, about 2/3 City and 1/3 Highway.

Does your drive look like this? If not, then you will get some variation from the published numbers

1. drive manual
2. learn stuff about cars
3. not be like every young guy around vancouver that drives a nice car - ie be a **** about it
I totally agree with the idea that you've gotta earn your share.
But they think I'll die driving a crappy car and crashing it. So they insisted the car they buy me will be a new car. What's going to happen is when I can afford my own car, beater or not, the A4 will become the new family car. That's why they chose to buy the Audi in the first place, because it'll eventually be theirs to drive. They're currently driving a big hulking S class (in champagne) right now...so it'd be kinda ridiculous if I drive that around...
Then again I'm conflicted because even though I don't think I deserve or should drive such a nice car, it is a fantastic drive. as well as very refined on the inside. =/
And I care about fuel economy because I pay for my own gas.

And contrary to what some people believe, it's safer to have power in the car. It's important to have the ability to make quick maneuvers when the situation calls for it. I can't tell you how many times I would've been screwed on the highway if I was driving an underpowered car.

I didn't mean fatality, but I wouldn't be as comfortable driving with a car with less than half the power of the 2.0T. On the same stretch of highway, I was somewhat nervous driving a Dodge Journey, for example. The car felt sluggish and I'm worried I'm holding people behind me back or can't change lanes fast enough.
