Smile Tire pressure help

Hello gents.

Just put on new tires and rims off of a friends S4.

Would like to know the proper tire pressure to be running.

Its usually just me and the lady in the car.

Im driving a 06 A4 2.0T Quattro

Tires are:

bridgestone 245/45 r18 96W Potenza re-01 r on BBS CH 18's.

I'd check what is recommended on the vehicle. It should say on the inside driver side door. Or you can check the tire as most tires that size will run a max of 52psi. I usually keep mine at around 44psi for a stiffer ride.

52 seems high, I have been told 36 elsewhere.....

As far as on the door, it does not apply as it only lists information for the standard 16's and 17's...

Anyone able to provide info on these tires specific or at least for 18's on a b7 a4?

Thanks!

I have All Season 235/40/R18 tires, sport suspension and run 36 psi - adjust to suit the road feel you want and monitor the wear pattern in case alignment is needed.

There is a minimum and maximum recommended PSI for each tire of every manufacturer for every size, depending on the load. An example is, for my A6 I have Falken ZE-512s sized 215/55R16 and their maximum is 52PSI when the tire is at it's maximum load. Obviously if you're not carrying a whole lot of weight around you don't need it that high. My local tire shop recommended that I keep them at 34PSI but I run them at 44PSI as I prefer a stiffer ride.

Remember that running tire pressure a little bit higher than normal (without exceeding manufacturer recommendations) is better than running lower tire pressure which can lead to a blowout.

By the way, since these rims were from your friends S4, you can take a look at his doorjamb and see what Audi recommends for proper tire inflation. Keep in mind that most people go with whatever suits them.

Correct. Just found out through the local Vancouver Audi Club that the recommended tire pressure on a factory B7 S4 is 36PSI on the original Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires.

There's your answer Niklaus. 36PSI is what is recommended as the B7 S4s came with 18x8j wheels wrapped in 235/45ZR-18 rubber.
