Re: tinting windows
can anyone in calgary share a recommendation for tint? Good price/good job....that kind of stuff. I went to Ziebart in Red Deer when I was living there, but I dont know where to go here.

Re: tinting windows
If anyone in the Ottawa area needs tint I would recommend trying George @ Ziebart on Carling. All pieces are computer cut. He's done a couple of my cars and I've been happy with the results.

Re: tinting windows
there's no preset limit on tint %'s in Ontario, but much like the muffler law, it's at the discretion of the officer.
IIRC, as long as the officer can see into your car, you're good.
i'm also looking to get tints in the near future - but the $1000+ for those Huper Optiks would look much nicer going towards rims and rubber for the summer, methinks...
bellofellow - i think you have it backwards - you want the darker tints (lower % value) on the back.
a bunch of the TSC guys swear by Audio Heaven (East Beaver Creek) - Audio Heaven - Security, Tints, Audio, and Video

Re: tinting windows
Got mine done at Shadow tint...they took off all the windows I did a 20% all around and it looks great....The price is pretty much like anywhere in town and the job that they did is amazing I am really happy with it...paid about $380 for all "7" windows

Re: tinting windows
As an aside... tinting the front window is illegal as it hinders rescue people from smashing the glass apart to save you in an accident. I just accepted the fact that if they have to get to me by smashing the front windhsield apart I'm going to be pretty messed up already. Also I'm very particular about my eyesight and I wanted full UV protection for my eyes so I had the windshield done. If you think about it, the windshield is the largest windows in your car but you leave it exposed? Then you sit right behind it and expose yourself to the sun and UV as well? That's nuts!
Laminated windows like the front window are even better blocking 100% of UV-B and 80% of UV-A.
So tinting your front window does absolutly nothing to block UV radiation or save your eyes. Glass alone is enough of a UV blocker that you don't need tint at all. Even the side windows which are not as good of a UV blocker are considered equivalent to spf30 which is pretty heavy duty.
Here is a good site on the subject: UV Radiation
So tint your windows for looks, or to keep the heat outta the car, but not for UV as it's proven that glass alone is enough.

Re: tinting windows
Limo tints are not legal, but my S10 is got a 30% at least on it and i've never had any problems. My friend also tinted his M3, limo tint, all windows including the front, and also had no problems. so depends on the cop giving the ticket i guess. If you watch the how to video on you tube, it seems pretty strait forward and i'm going to do it on my s4 as soon as i get it back from the shop. If any one else want's to pitch on a big roll of tint's we can make a day of it. and if we buy a roll and mess something up we can re do it watch the video, the kit is avaliable at part source, but the tints there are quite expensive. better to buy in bulk. 3 ppl pitching can get a roll of premium tints that will do all the cars and have leftovers.
