I am trying to order a replacement Thermostat for my 2006 A4, 4cyl turbo.
The attached photo keeps coming up regardless of which site I go to for ordering the part. Is the thermostat only available as part of this assembly or can I not simply buy a replacement thermostat on its own? I have changed the thermostat on several vehicles and never seen where the housing needs to be replaced. Can any one confirm this for me?

Also, I have not been able to find a DIY for the 2006 A4-B7 thermostat replacement. It looks like on some models the alternator and headlights etc need to be removed to get to it. I checked out my engine and this does not appear to be to the case on the B7. Can anyone confirm you can get to the assembly without removing the alternator?
