Stock or aftermarket Clutch?

Stock or aftermarket Clutch?
I’m at 180k on my 99.5 A4 1.8T and my clutch is slipping mostly in 5th but sluggish in every other gear. Looking to replace it and wanted to know if its worth while going for the aftermarket clutch (STAGE 1, 2, 3 - F1, XTD, Sachs etc?) or if I just pay full pop on a stock Audi clutch.
I’m really looking for as much info as I can get - I’m more lost now then I was when I started researching. 50% of people have said the fly wheel should be machineable and the best quote I got was $600 for new clutch from Audi with machined fly wheel (labour is another 600-700)... at the end of the day I need a clutch and any help/advice is appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Re: Stock or aftermarket Clutch?
if your not going to mod the engine then you can go with a stock clutch most people upgrade to stage 1, 2 or w/e because of the increased power from bigger turbos. You have a dual mass flywheel on the car which not everyone is going to want to machine. if your not looking to mod the car shop around and find out what the price diffrence would be bettween a stage 1 aftermarket clutch and a oem clutch... the stage one will feel a bit grabby but its close to stock.

Re: Stock or aftermarket Clutch?
Go with a South Bend Clutch and call it a day. Even if you don't go with higher power mods, I'd still recommend the OFE SS due to the lower engagement point. The stiffer feel is barely noticeable once you get used to it. Speak with Andy at SBC and he'll set you straight ...
