Removing Rear Deck in B7
Hey,
I'm completely new to this forum as well as Audi's. I just picked up a 2007 Audi A4 Quattro (presumably the B7). After picking it up i noticed that there is a bunch of dirt and a fairly large dead bug in the back window behind the middle tail light. I thought of the bright idea of putting tape on a coat hanger to save myself taking the car apart to get some of the stuff out, but the gap is soooo small between the glass and the tail light i had to cram it through causing tape gunk to get all on the window in unreachable spots.
So now I am just doing what I should of done in the first place, which is remove the rear deck with tail light to properly clean the rear window. I have found a few different references into how to do this, but none are for the B7 or if they are they arent correct.
What I've done and where I got stuck.
1. pop off child seat covers
2. remove bolts
3. pop off sub grill and remove 4 torque screws bolting the speaker to the deck
4. pop out the 4 clips by pulling the deck towards yourself and up
5. disconnect brake light
This is where I am stuck as it is suppose to come straight off. But from what I can see, I believe there is 3 tabs sticking down from what i think is the "c panel" that interlock with the rear deck on both sides, making it impposible to take out. No amount of wiggling or pushing in different directions seem to surpass this.
So I guess I have to take off the "c panels" to unlock this. Does anyone have a guide on how to do this for a B7? I have found how to's, but not that are applicable for my vehicle, and i'd rather not try to use a similar how too and break anything on the c panel causing it to dangle from the roof of my car.
Or even better a work around to not take off the c panels.
