Premium fuel??

Premium fuel??
CBC Marketplace will be airing an investigation about the pros and cons of burning premium fuel. They ran both fuels thru an engine in a test facility showing no significant advantage for mileage, performance nor engine health. They talked to a auto writer who runs regular in his Vette who claims premium is not necessary. I have been burning premium in my 2006 A4 , 2.0 L turbo. So, the question is, is the any risk or downside to going to regular pump gas instead of premium?
Current mileage is in the 7's highway, 9's city non rush hour and 10's city rush hour.
Thanks.

Re: Premium fuel??
Premium is only premium due to its ability to go under a higher compression rating before detonating, not for any other reason, if you have a high compression engine then use the premium fuel (turbo, supercharger, etc) , there is no real harm in using a less grade fuel to save money on today's cars, the car will detune to prevent engine knocking, but in contrast you lose performance/gas milage/possible engine knocking on older cars or very sensitive ones.. , which is where the myth of premium fuel = better milage/better everything came from i believe... dont quote me on that lol. i only use 93 because my car right meow is tuned to 93, luckly i dont drive to much
