Default Letter from Audi

I received a letter from Audi Canada today letting me know that they have extended the warranty for intake manifold control motor, fuel pressure sensor and PCV valve on my 2006 A4 and a couple of other models. Warranty is now to 10yrs or 192,000km.

I do have a MIL light that has been on for a few weeks now. If I take it to a dealership do you think they will charge me to pull the code? Anyone taken their car in after receiving the letter?

Also does anyone recommend a Audi dealer in the Vancouver/Richmond area that they have positive things to say about?

I received the same letter, will be going in on Monday to see what the deal is.. also have a CEL thrown, I know for sure my PCV valve needs a replacement, I'll report back when done.

Dropped mine off at the dealer this morning...with just over 100K...I've had the light on and off for a year now...and always take the car to the dealer for service...it's a CPO. The dealer replaced a faulty purge valve a month ago and all was fine for a few weeks...shortly after I started having a rough cold start and over revving in neutral when the car is warm. There also seems to be a very slight loss of power and increase in fuel consumption. I literally have a couple of weeks left on my CPO warranty...fingers crossed I'm not looking at a significant bill today. Will let you guys know how I make out.

I just came back from my local Audi dealer, and YES they will charge you to pull the codes, no time today to scan the car so I went on my way, but I believe the code for a bad PCV is P0455.

http://vagtoolfinder.com This link will help you find someone nearby who could help pull codes for you. You could PM me and I will do it for say 6 cans of Root Beer.

a4audi4fun: I will keep that in mind for the next time I end up with a MIL.

UPDATE: I stopped by Open Road Audi this morning, told them my symptoms and that I have a MIL. They quickly pulled the codes, found that the PCV valve was bad and replaced it while I waited.

My dad taught me when you want someone to do something for you as a favour, show up with an incentive. I picked up a dozen Tim Horton's donuts for the service guys and I got my car fixed, the interior vacuumed and a car wash all for free.

I do want to give a quick shout out to Mike Dragutinovich (Service Manager) and Allan Lin (Service Consultant). Both guys provided exceptional customer service and even if the service hadn't of fallen under the extended warranty, I have no doubt they wouldn't have charged me to pull the codes.

Turned out to be high speed fuel pump/cam follower failure! Glad I still have a couple weeks of CPO warranty left!

Just an update...the car is still with the dealer awaiting confirmation from AoC on whether to proceed with replacing the cylinder head!! Apperantly in extreme cases hpfp/cam follower failure can result in damage to the cylinder head. Anyone else out there have a similar case? So far the dealer and AoC have been great...loaner provided and it appears all will be covered under the extended warranty. Sounds like this was a major problem with the early B7s.

Cam followers have been known to fail frequently on these cars. Design issue apparently. I bought a new follower last week and replaced it on my 07 with 78k on it. You could definitely see some signs of wear but it wasn't too bad. To be safe, I'll be changing it every 50k. Only a 50$ part and it'll give you piece of mind.

My only question to you is how you could drive 2 weeks with a MIL on. Please spend a few dollars and get yourself the ross-tech cable. You have a car that's worth 10-15k...a hundred dollars is pennies on the dollar.

Thanks for the reply Multi...I've done a fair bit of research now on the hpfp/cam/follower issue...lot's of posts on various audi forums re this problem on the early B7s. Fortunately AoC has extended the warranty to 10 years or 160K due in large part to the nasty letters and phone calls they began to receive over the past year or so....and the threat of a class action law suit in the US. The car was just in for it's 100K (no...I'm afraid to say I'm not equipped nor brave enough to do my own)...service when the MIL came on literally on the morning I dropped it off. The dealer said it was due to a faulty purge valve which was replaced. Light then came back on a few weeks later and the dealer advised me to keep driving it until they could get me in for service...hence the two week delay. As I've had intermittent issues with the MIL in the past I and plan to keep the car for a couple of more years I do like the idea of getting a tech cable...any suggestions on a good place to pick one up? thanks
