Hi, I replaced stock fog light with HID kit
and the right side keeps going out.
I even changed the HID kit with another one, and after a week or so,
it went out again.
Mechanic says it is dragging out too much power and my car probably can't have
HID fog light, but I don't understand how a car cannot have it.
My lowbeams are HID and Fog lights are HID and have installed LED strip right beside fog light.
It is always the right fog light that goes off.
Anyone has any idea why this is happening?
Please help me.

i think you need warning code eliminators from ddm to correct the issue. its a power issue since your car assumes your running halogen fogs with a different wattage.

but there is one thing not clear.
if the power is the issue, why is it always the right one?
it could be either left or right.

Always?
It happened two times by the sounds of things. Could be the way it was wired in the ballast, could also be the distance of the wire from the ballast to the right side. Could just be coincidence.

so how should i fix it?
it happened twice since i replaced three weeks ago.
im pretty sure its not the wire cuz i have changed kit and re-installed it all again.

Or the OP could simply switch to a 55W kit! And no, it won't melt anything as the Halogen bulb equipped in the original fog light housing is also rated at 55W!!!

Sounds like you might have a bad ballast. Try switching them to see if the problem changes sides.

does your HID Kit come with a wire harness? This is a extra wire that connects both your lights to the battery to regulate the current better. With out harness, any spike in the current will cause the HID to turn off.

I had a similar problem in my old car - I used the MTEC HID kit from Japan without a harness and one side of the light flickered, then added a harness and problem solved.

When I switched to Xenon Depot Kit and not use the harness, the same problem came back so I installed the harness as well.

The harness is like $20 on ebay or goto speedstar racing (agent for Xenon Depot / kbcarstuff)

i did some more reading on this subject and warning code eliminators seem to be the thing that keeps the lights on.

lots of people with the b7 have this issue when running after market HID lights.

Like Mona suggested, could be a bad ballast. Next time it goes out, pull out the bulb and put it in the other fog light just to test that the bulb is actually out. Also, make sure you dont get oil/dirt on the lamps!
