Default Daytime Running Lights

Is there anyone out there that can advise the best option to hookup daytime running lights for my 2006 A4? I just purchased the vehicle from the US and need to have DRLs functioning in order for it to pass the Canadian inspection.

I assume that you do have the fogs installed. Given that, I think you can VAG-COM the car to Canadian specs to turn on the fogs as DRLs

Look about 1/2 down the page where the author describes turning off the ambers with the DRLs

I just imported a 2006 A4 3.2- had my local dealership program the DLR's and program the odometer to metric from imperial - cost about $75.00 plus tax - that was the only modification required

Remember that you need to get these mods done first, then arrange your Federal Inspection (Canadian Tire); also, depending on your province, you may need other inspections prior ot getting licenced. In Ontario, I needed a safety and E-test - did this at Canadian Tire at same time as fed inspection - cost about $135

I just imported a 2006 A3 from Seattle to Calgary. Fantastic drive! I love my new car!!

I just called Glenmore Audi in Calgary for a quote to convert to DRL and Miles>Metric conversion. They quoted 500-600$ for the DRL, and figured a "few hours (200$) " to convert from miles to km.

I found this forum, hoping there is another option.

Anybody in Calgary do VAG programming?

cheers,

john

Did the dealership explain what work would be required ie new wiring harness, etc? Or is it simply a programming issue to program the DLR's for the A3? I don't know the answer, but I'd be surprised if the light setup on the A4 and A3 were that radically different. Have you checked with other dealerships about their estimated costs and what is involved?

Find a local VAG mechanic (not stealership) or post this on the CDN forum of Audizine or Audiworld ...

Hi,

Can anyone give me ideas on how to wire DRLs for a 98 A4. I need to get this done in other to pass my Federal inspections. I dont know if anyone has used the DRL diy kit from Canadian Tire. Did it work? I got a quote for $350-$400 from MM Ottawa which is steep. Any one knows of any local shop that can get it done for less?

Will appreciate any help.

Thanks

For that price you may well buy a VAG-COM setup ... check your distributor in Calgary.
