Canadian instrument cluster
Does anyone know where I can get an instrument cluster for a 2006-2008 A4? I'm importing a car from the States and, although the cluster has km's on it already, I want one with km's as the primary gauge so it's easier to eventually resell.
Does anyone know where I can get one? Are they difficult to install? And how do you reprogram the mileage once you get one?

Do a search on Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market
you may be able to get a used one. If I'm not mistaken, the instrument cluster has to be recoded by the dealership for immobilizer purposes (I might be wrong but I'm pretty sure I read on AW that you have to do this).

Re: Canadian instrument cluster
Local stealership quoted me CA$1400 for the A6 They dont replace just the speedo faceplate....whole kaboodle!
Looks like i might have to pay this if i want it - like you i prefer to have the KM/H faceplate and not the Miles/h plate. Thankfully it should still go thru inspection with the current plate - me hopes....

That's ridiculous. I guess it's their way of making back some of the money they lost from people importing cars from the US. I'm pretty sure you can find one used through a junk yard or car parts place though. A bunch seem to be available for older model cars, but not for the new body style. I wonder if they're the same.
It will definitely pass inspection, I just want it because it will be easier to sell the car a few years down the road.

Yeah after having 3 US cars in a row I am so used to reading the smaller km/h gauge that I do not even notice it anymore. Besides, if someone loves the car, that little nuance will not deter them from the sale. Miles on the other hand...lol

I can't believe you read the smaller markings... When I turned 16 my parents got me a car that my great aunt had kicking round for years that i loved, a 1969 Merc Meteor.. only one demonination on that gauge.. MPH.. lol.. i loved it.. drivin 30 35 on a city street makes it kinda feel like you can blow by most people.. lol.. i dunno i just got used to it.. i never really check what the actual unit crossover was back then, i kinda just felt the speed.. as most any driver can.. at least i would hope so.
