Best Tires

Re: Best Tires
My 2c worth.
Currently have Toyo Proxy 4 on a 2005 3.0 sedan and Pirelli P Zero on a 2008 2.0T A4 Avant. Both sets are All Season UHP ie W/Z rating. They have worked well in the small amount of snow we get in Vancouver and on the drive up to Whistler. The Toyos are noisier than the Pirelli's IMO. In the past I've always had very good experience with Michelin but decided to try these sets this time around; I got good deals for both so they were a LOT cheaper than the Michelins.
Best tire/brand is always a very personal/emotional thing so you'll likely get very different answers from every person that you ask. I did ask my dealer about other brands that would be even cheaper (meaning some of the other Asian brands) and he stated he wouldn't sell those for use on an Audi - he just said they wouldn't last because of our vehicle weight.
On the flip side maybe it's worth paying less for a new tire and replacing every 2 years rather than something more expensive that lasts longer. Not easy to measure whether a cheaper brand new tire is better than a more expensive tire that has 2 years of use on it.
Best thing is to validate price ranges, determine what's an acceptable budget/brand for you and get the best deal you can within that range.
All the best with whatever you choose.

Re: Best Tires
forget Pirellis, Michelin pilot supersports I have had them on for one season and they are the best tires that I have ever owned. (no joke) I run Michelin snow tires on stock 17 inch a4 rims and the supersports on 19 inch vmr wheels (rs4 lookalikes) the supersports grip the road like a race tire and the wear is really low considering how fast I corner..... cant say enough good things about these tires. Quiet, grippy, and surprisingly good in the wet also

Re: Best Tires
Even of the fact that my car is pretty old, I plug the conversation. From late spring to near winter I'm using Fulda EcoControl which they are 'summer' season tires. These tires provides nice traction on dry either very wet surface. That's my first feelings after doing about 400km. But remember that the traction of brand new tires may be different than used tire with lower tread about 70%. But anyway my winter tires also comes from Fulda (Montero 3) and I can really recommend it for driving in very snowy conditions. But as a4audi4fun said: "Best tire/brand is always a very personal/emotional thing so you'll likely get very different answers from every person that you ask. Which I completely agree with this statement.

Re: Best Tires
I have 19" Dunlops on my 2010 A4 s-line, didn't like them plus the 19" low profiles had a hard ride. I down sized to a 17"tire and wheel package and opted for the Michelin Pilot A/S 3...night and day difference.....just read the specs on Tire Rack for the Michelin Pilot A/S 3....or use their site for any other tire research you may be interested in....a great source on info.
My winter tires and 17" on dedicated rimes and the wife wanted to keep them on because she hated to hard ride of the 19 inchers......yes expensive, but I sold my 19" rims at a good price.
Good luck on your shopping.

Re: Best Tires
Thanks for the replys, just wanted to update
ended up with Michelin Pilot Sport a/s 3, will need winters but thats ok, put them on 2 months ago. LOVE these tires, never felt more connected to the road, cornering at speed in both wet and dry conditions is tremendous. Nice quiet ride.
