Default APR stage 1 question, installation issues??

Hi! I'm back from a shop where they can install the ECU upgrade on my 2008 A4 2.0T. But the guy told me that they had issues with the program switching stuff. They even had a car that got "bricked" during installation because it crashed... Needless to say that he doesn't want to do it again and wants to install only one program. So I would be on stage 1 mode all the time... No stock option.

Me, I don't care... But I was planning on going back to stock programming before leaving my car at the dealership for maintenance, since it's still under warranty. That wouldn't be possible...

Any thoughts? Should I be worried? Bad shop? It's the only one in the Quebec City area...

Thanks!

I agree... Already cancelled my appointment. I'll think about it, the APR special ends on April 21st. There are a few shops in Montreal, but it is a lot less practical for me!

Yep it's less pratical to do a 2:30 hour drive to get a 6 hour free test drive....
But at least you're going to have good service and peace of mind!

get unitronic instead...it wouldnt really matter if you can switch programs or not, Audi is able to detect tuning programs now via TD1 (if you want to read up on it, go to audizine.com). In my opinion, the only advantage of switching programs is when 93 octane fuel is not available and you need to go back to 91.

Thanks. And good point... I decided to wait. Going to drop the car, then probably find some 18's (next summer). And then chip. By then I should be nearing the end of my extended warranty...
