Default 2006 A4 backlight problem

Hello everyone,
I have an 06 A4 avant and lately one of my backlights bulb went off. I purchased a replacement bulb. The 'burned' bulb is at the same location where the signal and stop light bulbs are. I replaced the bulb with the new one but it does not lit properly. The filament is lit very weakly for about 15 sec, it flickers and after that is off. I tried the old bulb and basically does the same thing .
Has anyone experienced this kind of problem?
Can anyone help how should I proceed on fixing this problem.
My car is just out of waranty and I want to avoid going to an Audi dealership
Thanks
YJ

It's possible the bulb socket connection tabs have some corrosion on them or they are slightly in the wrong place. With the power off, scrape them to remove any obvious signs of corrosion and then bend them slightly so they make better contact with the bulb.

Hi a4audi4fun,
I tried what you suggested. The terminals were clean, very little oxidation. I pulled the terminals so the contact it's improved. The result is the same, very weak light from the filament. What I noticed is that when I pushed the unlock button an remote control the defective bulb lighted ok to indicate that the vehicle is unlocked. After that you notice that the filament is very weak and dies. What I did I measured the DC voltage on the defective socket (while the filament is weak). It shows .40 vDC. The other side of the of the car for the same bulb indicates 2.0 VDC. Looks like I don't have enough power on the problematic socket.
Any thoughts would help. Thanks
