Wheel Fitment Issues

Wheel Fitment Issues
Dear Audi Enthusiasts,
I have just bought a used 2007 A4 (B7) Quattro S-Line and had also purchased a set of new wheels & tires - 18"x 8" ET47 running on 245/40. The offset seemed a little higher than most aftermarket wheel offsets and am worried that it might sit a little too far inside and starts to affect the suspension components.
Conversely, would a ET35 wheel stick out of the arches and cause "rubbing" problems on full load or bad/bumpy roads?
Your experiences are greatly appreciated.
Tom.

Re: Wheel Fitment Issues
Can't say for sure but I have no issues with mine. It strongly depends on the tires, as you can fit various types of tires depending on the width of the rim. I currently have 235s and may move onto 245s in the future but I have ET35. ET47 seems pretty close. I'd recommend trying it out first before buying it, and if you already bought them then I guess you'll have found out by now!

Thanks brother...I've already bought them and have being using them. So far no issues but you are right, they are very close to the suspension components. I've just ordered 11.5mm spacers which should bring the offset to ET35.5, hence my question...

Re: Wheel Fitment Issues
One thing about spacers, many Audi owners such as myself recommend extended wheel lugs if you plan on going with spacers wider than 5mm. ET47 is kind of wide, but after the spacers you must notice a massive improvement in road handling.
BTW: How is Malaysia? Blood hot, eh? Gotta love the spicy food.

Bad news! The spacers arrived and after installing them on, the front wheels vibrate at about 60 mph onwards. Decided to forego them in the front wheels. Mind you these were supposedly good quality spacers from ECS tuning (with the extended lugs of course)...Anyway, the rear looks kinda good at ET35, just need to test if it does rub under heavy load...!!!
Malaysia is very hot, humid & wet...not so good for turbo charged cars but we do get less rusting issues...haha!!! Food wise is great and it ranges from western, middle eastern, chinese...you name it we have it... and generally the traditional Malaysian food can be quite spicy...

There is a large Malaysian community here in Vancouver and quite a number of Malaysian restaurants. I love the curries, rendengs, mee krop and all the goodies. I haven't been to Malaysia yet but I have many friends from Kuala Lumpur. Sorry for my poor spelling as I'm not familiar with the proper wording!

Re: Wheel Fitment Issues
yea...it was a wasted purchase...maybe it is also because I am already using a hub-centric ring to increase the bore from 57.1 to 66.5...but then again without the spacers, there's no vibrations at all???? I'm baffled...
I am now contemplating the H&R Trak+ adapter that increases the bore as well as the offset but am worried the same issue might crop up and furthermore, these H&R adapter spacers are even more costly!!!
Shucks!!!

Honestly I think the best way to go is the track adapters. I had no idea you were already running hub centric rings. You are definitely going about it the right way though. Most people upgrade their wheels and tires and don't bother using hub centric rings when the bore size is much larger than stock, which is not really good for handling.
I'm not sure about return policies regarding the track adapters but there are some other manufacturers out there that have similar systems to H&R. I'd check them out.
