Just did my first oil change.
Hey all! I'm new to the forum and new to audi cars. I'm used to doing my own oil changes on my cars, except everything I owned before my 2006 A4 was a north american car and the oil changes were pretty straight forward. The A4 was a little more intimidating as the entire under carriage of the car has a plastic weather shield. I managed to remove that no problem with a flat head screw driver and found where the oil drain bolt was on the engine. BUT! My big question is where the heck is the oil cartridge holder. I looked around and found some things that could of been it but I didn't really want to start messing around with stuff I have no idea about.
I ended just draining the oil and putting in 4L of Castrol Synthetic 5w-40. Checked the dipstick and was good to go. Just wonder what the best place to go for diagrams and DIY walkthrough's for Audi cars.
P.S I would of spent more time figuring this out except it started to pour out so I had to get everything back together before I got completely drenched.

Yup. Oil Filter. I think it's the thing with a little cap that you can screw off of it. I wasn't sure how to remove it so I didn't at the time, trying to find some good pictures of it online to see what I'm doing for next time.

Not sure if your car is different from mine, but I have a cartridge type oil filter, not the canister style like yours in the pic. Maybe they changed it in the 06 model, but I'll take a look again as soon I can.

Re: Just did my first oil change.
you must have the 2.0 Turbo i dont have a picture but if its like any other bmw or mercedes motor with a cartridge oil filter you should see either a plastic or metal cap that u simply unscrew to get to the filter The filter housing should be vertical and you should see it by just looking at the motor from up top. Pull the old filter out and change the oring on the cap. The pictures above are from a 1.8t diffrent motor and filter style.
