wish I had the manual

wish I had the manual
I recently bought a 2003 A4 1.8T and I'm still waiting for the owners manual. I have a couple quick question on the various controls.
In the drivers door there is the panel with the trunk release and 2 other alarm looking buttons. What do they do? Also the whole panels moves around a little. Is this a common problem? I think the tab or lock that keeps it in place must have broken.
Also, I'm guessing ECON on the climate controls should be the Air Conditioning. I've tried it a few times now that it's getting warmer and keeping it on LOW seems cooler then turning on ECON. Does this indicate the A/C needs to be recharged or does ECON mean something else?
Thanks

Re: wish I had the manual
I think Econ might just enable the fan and not the AC. As it gets warmer it won't be able to keep the car cool enough. It does work great when it's cooler outside though.

the other buttons on the inside of the door....i THINK, not sure, but one seems to be an alarm you can put on if your on a hill and it will warn you if the car is rolling...im purely guessing that based on the logo on the button. I would love to know for sure what the button is as well though.

Re: wish I had the manual
Pushing the ECON button turns off the air conditioning (therefore saving fuel)... So basically the AC is on all the time (and the little econ light is off)... When economy is selected (the econ light is on) the air conditioning is off.
I'm not 100% certain, but i believe when defrost is selected the air conditioning is on regardless of the econ setting.
The security button down in the door (as it was explained to me) is a tilt sensor which can be disabled with the switch if the vehicle is being towed. Otherwise the alarm would sound if the vehicle was locked and towed at the same time!
