Wheels?!?!?!?!

Wheels?!?!?!?!
Hey, I'm new to this forum. I have a 2005 3.0 sline B6 quattro that i want to get wheels for. I want a set that will fill the wheel well with my factory suspension. I'm wondering if any one has put 20" on a b6 factory, and if they ahd rubbing issues. P.S. If any one has a set of wheel for sale 19" or 20". Let me know.

Re: Wheels?!?!?!?!
Welcome ! A couple of points to make. Larger wheels typically enhance the look but 20's are very big and most would agree that unless its on an Avant they'll look too big. Also, the larger the wheel, the more pronounced the wheel gap appears (due to lower profile rubber) so you may want to take this into account too. If you go to Audizine.com or :: a4mods.com :: and do a search, you'll find a ton of info and pics. BTW, rubbing is unlikely on factory suspension unless the wheels are VERY wide and have a very low offset.
Lastly, performance will be affected when changing up your wheels and tires and I would strongly suggest you consider lightweight wheels. When I swapped mine out from 17" winters @ 50 lbs with tires to 19" summers @ 41 lbs, the change to the ride and handling was quite noticeable.

Re: Wheels?!?!?!?!
like he said....if you go to 20's instead of say stock 17's your not getting rid of the wheel gap at all. the only way to get rid of that is to lower the car. biger rim=less rubber, little rim= big rubber. either way its the same diamater.
i would recomend 18s to be honest with you. I had thought long and hard about it. I lowered mine with eibach springs(which i love) and put a nice set of 18s on it. heres a pic...if i went to 19s or 20...well i would of been screwed.
Welcome to the forum though!
(sorry for the shitty cell phone pic)

Re: Wheels?!?!?!?!
Thanks for the info. what i'm geting is that the only wat to get ride of the gap is to get lowering springs. Then a small wheel size will do. one more thing. i heard that i need to stay with the same overall wheel and tire diameter to prevent damage to the drive train on a quattro. is that true?

Re: Wheels?!?!?!?!
Correct, wheel gap is reduced by lowering but frankly, lowering can be done using different springs alone, different shocks alone, changing both springs and shocks and of course going with coilovers.
Are you asking about getting different sizes between front and rear or keeping all the same? Keeping all the same definitely wont damage the drivetrain BUT I understand changing the total diameter size could affect the performance of ABS. Also, it will throw off your speedo ...
Here's a link to help get the same total diameter with different size wheels and tires: Tire Calculations
