Default Trouble starting

Hi guys,

Wondering if anyone can help. I have a 2003 A4 1.8T Quattro and have always had issues with starting. It usually 'catches' but seems like its about to stall. Sometimes it doesn't start at all.

I have put in a new starter, battery, spark plugs, fuel filter and the problem hasn't changed.

Anyone else have this issue?

Thanks!

Have you gotten your coil packs replaced under the Coil Pack recall? If not, I'd get it done ASAP. Could be the problem.

Also, can you define always. I.E. Have you had this problem for the last 7 years (I see that your car is an 03)

Thanks for getting back to me! Yes I have had the coil packs done.

I have owned the car since November 2009 and it has been a consistent problem.

Not being a mechanic and not knowing the maintenance history I would try all the usual things like replacing filters (fuel, air), spark plugs, and off course the coil packs have already been mentioned and ruled out.

If none of that works then phase two kicks on for me.......seek the advice of a mechanic!!
