Timing Belt

Re: Timing Belt
i'm looking at getting this done as well, and I'm sitting at 115kms already.
i'm pretty new when it comes to parts, but from what I gathered so far it's good to get the water pump replaced with the timing belt. what else should I consider? any help is appreciated.
also, how do you think the mechanic would react if i bring in my own parts?

Re: Timing Belt
If your into long term ownership, suggest as a reference to look at ECS Tuning "Ultimate Timing Belt Kit" for your model of engine.
Regardless where you purchase the parts, their kits give you a good idea what is needed.

Re: Timing Belt
hi guys, I was thinking of changing my timing belt kit, but at the Audi shop, they cant find my my engine at their system, so they are not sure if the timing belt kit for European engines will fit in mine. I imported my Audi from USA, and the engine is 1.8 T, code AMB. If anyone knows, i would be thankful.

Re: Timing Belt
As mentioned the 3.0L Audi V6 is a bit of a bear to install the Timing Belt Kit inc expensive specialty tools to lock the cams, etc

Re: Timing Belt
I got my timing belt done at Eurospeed. I wanna start by saying that Jack is the biggest there. I took my A4 to get my timing belt to get changed at 105000km, which is no where near its service date, but I wanted to get it over and done with. He charged me $900 for a Continental timing belt kit, serpentine belt and tensioner and waterpump.
After I drove it home, the car would squeal when I started it up because the belt was slipping off the alternator. Then my engine speed sensor died, my car started leaking oil, I had to get my N75 valve replaced and my brake vacuum pump.
So after $1500+ in repairs, I took my car to Peter's Garage because the car was humming after 40km/h to find out that my timing belt was put on too tight and the only way to loosen it up is to take off the front end and make the adjustments.
Eurospeed is by far the worst Audi/VW shop in the GTA. DO NOT recommend them to anybody. Vaso at Peter's Garage is friendly, honest and knowledgeable. He's always taken great care of my A4
