Thinking of getting 2006-2007 A4 . Am I asking for trouble ?
I've been driving Acura/Honda for over 20 years now and I am thinking its time to go for a better driving experience.
I have read all over about Audi reliability stories and browsing this forum kind of scares me as well.
For you 2006/2007 A4 owners , would you do it all over again based on your experience so far ?
Can any Audi owners claim that all they had done in 5 years of ownership is the regularly scheduled maintenance ?
Anybody have any non-biased advice or want to share their experience ? The other car I'm considering is an IS250 of similar years (manual).

German cars are like hot babes. They look great, everyone wants one, but they're expensive and give you endless problems. LOL. But seriously, the Audi will not be as reliable as the Honda. It will need more service and the service will be much more expensive. Given that, it's a much nicer car. My Audi has 85K's on it, and I've already replaced a Battery ($300, yes $300 for a battery) Fuel Pump ($750) Wiper Motor Transmission (I don't even know what it is but it was $500) all brake rotors and pads ($1200) and more brake light bulbs than I can count. But I still love it....

Keep in mind that forums in general are much more pessimistic than the actual ownership experience. There are 10 people complaining for every 1 person raving about Audi ownership.
I just bought a 2005 A4 Avant. Wish me luck! I have a motorcycle too and that eats up enough of my cash.
Just do your homework. It is easy to find out service history from whoever you buy your Audi from. If no service history. No deal IMHO.

hehe. so far the only thing that the car cost me from when i bought the car is freaken oil changes. no problems what so ever. problems that do occur so often is because you dont love it as much as u should be :O
it speeds when i want it to, and shines out the other cars around it. gotta love my audi

I heard 06 and newer typically have better reliability. I've had my 06 A4 since 40,000k it's now at 80,000k. In that time I did brakes at the dealer ($1200) and that's the only thing I've paid for. I've had it in for a faulty sensor that had something to do with the fuel injection and something else to do with the throttle body not opening up properly. Both times the engine light came on and I took it in. Biggest problem you'll find is keeping the rims scuff free.

$1200 for brakes ? Yikes. I guess you mean pads and rotors front and back. Or was there additional work ? Still that is pretty steep. That's more than double what it cost me on my Acura. I guess I better get used to those kinds of bills if I want to drive an Audi.

Re: Thinking of getting 2006-2007 A4 . Am I asking for trouble
I bought my 2006 A4 with 65,000km,its now up to 90,000 and NO problems at all.Did the oil/filter every 5000km.Going to check the cam lobe issues at the next check up to make sure its not cracked. You will notice though that the car will idle like a diesel and almost all audi's have this strange vibration problem over 140km/h with aftermarket tires,go to Audizine alot of owners having this issue...I will buy another Audi if I want a all wheel drive car but if I wanted a three season car I would buy a BMW three series.

It's encouraging to see some positive responses here. I guess certified pre-owned is still the best way to go when getting a used Audi ?
