Sterio Safe mode?

Re: Sterio Safe mode?
I have the same problem as well with my Audi 2000 A4 2.8L. I purchase the car secondhand and was never given the radio code. After reading multiple threads on audiforum.ca, I found out that I had to copy down my VIN number and also took pictures of all the numbers on the back of my OEM stereo and bring it to a dealership. My car is a 2000 and luckily I found a namecard that came with the manual, called the Audi dealership, gave them all the numbers and they said they can't find my code on their system. My best bet was to bring it in and have them take out the radio to plug it into the system. I have already paid a Vdub dealership to take out my radio for $60 because they said all I needed to provide the VIN and radio number and I can get the code just by phoning them. Now the Audi dealership plans to charge me another $80 to get the radio code....
Is there anyone who could help me with getting my radio code without getting charged again? I understand I wasn't too experienced in this, but this time I was just following instructions on this forum and also the Volkswagen mechanic who told me that I could get it just by phoning.
Thanks in advance!
