Hi all,
I'm having an issue with my power steering. I was recently in an accident and the reservoir was replaced along with hoses etc. After about a month of having it back, the power steering started to fail intermittently until one day it went altogether. I checked my reservoir and it looked extremely low. I bought some Pentosin oil to refill but the dipstick says maximum" at only about 1" depth. So i filled it to 1". It barely fills out the very bottom of the reservoir. Is that the correct amount? It seems odd to have a reservoir that hold a half-litre and you only fill it about 100ml. Anyway, the power steering worked a little bit but it still goes heavy now and then and especially if I slow down. Is it because of bubbles in the system? Should I fill up the reservoir more? I've heard that these should not be over-filled. Not sure what to do but I don't want to take my Audi to the shop and pay big bucks for a small fix.

Well if anyone has the same problem, I seemingly fixed mine by revving the engine and turning the wheels lock to lock. Then let that run through a bit and revved again while turning halfway side to side. That seemed to have worked out any bubbles in the steering system and everything is good again.
