Default Starting when cold...

When I start our A4 in the cold mornings it sounds like the turbo is making a loud jet engine noise. If I let it idle for a while it winds down after a few minutes.

Car seems to perform good. Is this just the nature of the beast or is something up?

mine seemes to make a loud intake sound only when cold and im driving. Im not really sure about yours though.
If you drove hard last night, could it be oil build up because you didnt cool down the turbo? could this happen? anyone?

i think that's normal for our cars. I could be wrong though. Anyway, i just always let it idle for bit before i drive it and i always try not to boost until it's up to normal temp.

i do the same, boost kicks in at about what 3000? I try to keep mine at no higher then 2500 or so. I swear i need a sticker that says too cold to boost so people wont get mad at me and honk lol. I still get to 70 km/h ...eventually

I had a similar issue with my 04 WRX. I believe it's because the cold oil is thicker and not circulating properly. Staying out of the boost is a good idea, just let it warm up a bit and you should be good. This is just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Lease came up. I was going to buy it out but then I came across this sweet 2004 Audi A4 Ultrasport 3.0 with really low milage. I bought that instead. My wife was pregnant so I needed a slightly bigger car. But I miss my WRX......

just to let u guys know. audi insulation isnt that great as well... but the comfortability of an audi is different from subaru. subaru = performance. audi = handling and comfort

also we audi use 0w40 for oil in the winter = thin oil to get the engine started easier without problems.
