So I just bought a mint condition with an immaculate body 2004 Audi A4 1.8t and was stopped at a light when some jerk on his phone rolled right into me and made a nice little dent/scratch right on the bumber, I think the corner of his plate hit and dented it...... Again it was my first day driving the car

I have no idea on what to do to get it fixed!!!

Am I screwed and have to replace the whole bumber?? Can it be repaired at all?

Why not just take it into a shop and see what they think? A new bumper would be nice but I'm sure they will just fix it. Either way file a police report and go through insurance. He's paying right?

I really dont want to go through insurance for a small dent and make a claim and anyway I had to push for $700 which I got from him cash so hopefully that was enough...... I'm new in toronto so anyone who knows some good places to get it fixed let me know as well.

never take cash like that... get all his info, for insurance and stuff, then go get a quote at a reputable shop.

Once you know the cost, then ask him if he wants to pay you cash, or if you're calling his insurance company, and done.

That is, if you don't want to just do it straight through insurance in the first place.

$700 will not cover a new bumper cover (if that's what's needed) The part is a few hundred, then the painting, and labour... you're easily talking a $1000+

For a bit of bondo and a resspray... you might get away with it...

Should have called the cops. He was on the phone which is illegal now in Ontario(only handsfree is good). Only a complete idiot takes cash. His insurance would have covered it and got you a rental if required at no cost to you. Live and learn, your gonna get burned on this. $700 wont cover a new bumper cover and paint.

I'm not going to beat a dead horse, but as everyone says, always get Insurance. I got rear ended in my Audi A4 and the result was a tiny dent, with some spiderwebbing of the paint in the impact area. I needed a new bumper, If you need a new bumper, it's going to run you $1300, for the bumper, paint, install.

I just bought my A4 as well, and the dealership where I bought it and I are unhappy with whatever body work that was done in order to get the car ready for me..I'm going back to the body shop at some point this week. I can print off your pics in colour and take it to them and ask if he can ball park a price and what might be necessary, if you're interested..

Thanks for all the suggestions......... But anyway insurance claim for something small like that is not worth a claim on my record but also i guess i couldve got more $$$....... I'm not looking to get the whole bumper replaced, anyway to fix that at all??

As long as you didn't back into him and he is at fault it would not go on your record. It would go on his. You pay nothing. He pays everything, then he pays more per month for insurance. and you get a repainted or new bumper.

Currently you get 1/2 a fixed bumper and rest comes out of your pocket. If you find a crappy shop you might be able to get it fixed for that price but I'm betting over 1k.
