Default Shifting into first

I am really on a roll with all these questions

Our Audi has 85,000km on it.

When stopped at say a red light I always shift it into neutral. When I go to put it into first it seems I have to work it in. Doesn't slide in very nice at all.

Is this a normal nuance of the A4 Manual or is something up?

I've never had any such problem with my 04 A4.
