Default Please help !!!! :(

hey guys, new to the audi world, just purchased a 2002 a4 quattro 1.8t 5spd with 182,000kms. I love the car and want to do everything i can to keep it. but its causing me some headaches.

Yesterday, the car wouldn't start in the morning(it was about 2 degrees celcius) it cranked, but did not want to fire. So after about 5 minutes of cranking it over, I let it sit for 15 minutes. When I cranked it again, it fired, but was really rough. Once the engine was warm I tried to rev past 4000rpm while in gear and it would not let me go past 4000rpm, it felt like it redlined there.

That same morning I brought it to a local vw/audi shop and had them diagnose the CEL that had been on since I bought the car last week. It pulled up the following 11 faults;

116825 - EVAP Emission Control Sys: Incorrect flow
P0441 - 001 - upper limit exceeded - Intermittent

116840 - EVAP System:Very small leak detected
P0456 - 002 - Lower Limit Exceeded - MIL ON

16804 - Catalyst System; Bank 1 : Efficiency Below Threshold
P0420 - 002 - Lower Limit Exceeded - Intermittent

17544 - Fuel Trim: Bank 1 (Add) :System too Lean
P1136 - 001 - Upper Limit Exceeded - MIL ON

16706 - Engine Speed Sensor G2 : No Signal
P0332 - 004 - No signal/Communication - Intermittent

16684 - Random/Multiple Misfire Detected
P0300 - 008 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent

16685 - Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected
P0301 - 008 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent

It had the same faults for all cylinders as the one above ^

16705 - Engine Speed Sensor (G2: Implausible signal
P0321 - 008 - Implausible signal

They cleared the CEL and the 4000rpm limiter went away. That same night I went to go start the car and the immobilizer would not let me start it. So I left the key in the ignition for 10 minutes exactly and at the 10th minute the immobilizer light turned off and i was able to start my car and drive, but the 4000rpm rev limiter was back as well as the CEL. PLEASE HELP!!!

16684 - Random/Multiple Misfire Detected
P0300 - 008 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent

16685 - Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected
P0301 - 008 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent

for this you will need new coil packs and new spark plugs, might as well just do all of them while your at it. This will be a big cause of all kinds of issues like starting your car, power through the band, rough idle, etc

16804 - Catalyst System; Bank 1 : Efficiency Below Threshold
P0420 - 002 - Lower Limit Exceeded - Intermittent

had this code happen to me, your catalytic converter is toast, time for for a new one

116825 - EVAP Emission Control Sys: Incorrect flow
P0441 - 001 - upper limit exceeded - Intermittent

116840 - EVAP System:Very small leak detected
P0456 - 002 - Lower Limit Exceeded - MIL ON

these codes mean that you have a vaccum leak in your system somewhere that is contributing to the boost issues of feeling no power or redlining at 4,000rpm. Search for DIY boost leak tester and find out where or what is leaking in the system

17544 - Fuel Trim: Bank 1 (Add) :System too Lean
P1136 - 001 - Upper Limit Exceeded - MIL ON

i feel like this code will go away once the evap leak is fixed

i am not sure what would be causing the speed sensor issue

saw your post on audizine. those guys will help lots as well.

The car being a B6, I'd first check if the coilpack recall has been done - it started by the end of 2010 and it's still going through.
Cameron92, call Audi, give them your VIP, and if you're lucky you'll get them to replace your coilpacks for free.

Sorry, meant VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) - the serial number. It's under the windscreen, driver side.
