Hey guys,

Getting the following warning. The yellow oil can is showing up along with the word sensor on my 02 B6. My question is; If it's a bad connection or wire issue then what can be done to repair it. Also, how hard is it to replace the sensor? I've done the speed sensor and it wasn't that hard to do.

I checked the oil level and it seems fine, replaced it in June, oil is a bit brown but not black and it doesn't smell burnt. Ran a scan and got the following results.

2 Faults Found:
00562 - Sensor for Oil Level/Temperature (G266)
30-10 - Open or Short to Plus - Intermittent
00562 - Sensor for Oil Level/Temperature (G266)
27-10 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent


am I correct in assuming that the words:
"Open or Short to Plus - Intermittent" AND "Implausible Signal - Intermittent"

mean it's an electrical issue???

I'm gonna disconnect the oil sensor and clean the contacts then reconnect it to see if that makes a difference. We'll go from there but in the meantime. Anyone have any suggestions??????

I'd check the connection first as they remove this for an oil change. When was the last oil change? I'd recommend an alcohol for cleaning the contacts and this will remove any grease as well.

Could be :
- a bad connection
- a dying sensor ; count 100 to 200$ to have it replaced
- oil sludge In which case the engine'd better get cleaned up.

DUDES!!!

Thanks for the advice but I know it's not sludge. I changed the oil myself in June so it was done with lots of time, patience and TLC. The oil gets changed regularly and it is in good condition. I'm gonna clean the connection and see what happens. anyone else have any ideas?

I disconnected the sensor and cleaned the contacts but the warning comes and goes so I'm going to try removing the sensor and cleaning it if that's at all possible. If not I'm going to order the sensor. The cheapest OEM sensor I was able to find was on this site

It might also be in the wiring harness. Check and see what faults you get if you leave the sensor disconnected.
