Oil Changes

Re: Oil Changes
Synthetic oil takes a long time to breakdown; however, changing it more regularly will avoid allowing the contaminents in the oil to cause engine problems. I too do the 7,500 km interval (Audi's interval is every 15k so they pay for every second oil/ filter change).

Re: Oil Changes
I just spent almost $1000. for the garage to replace the oil pump. Sludge was the culprit but the old owner told me he kept it filled with synthetic but changed it according to the manual (12,000km). I have been to 2 other garages and both say change at 6000km with synthetic or sludge will re-occur. Oil changes are a cheap alternative to oil pump, turbo or even engine replacement.

Re: Oil Changes
I had mine changed at Oil Changers. Cost about $100 all in.
Then took the car in for Audi Care few months later and they asked what I did to it - the clowns at Oil Changers used the wrong tool to take off the filter and cracked the housing. Cost me another $100 to replace the part.
Needless to say I will always use dealer or Audi mechanic from now on...

Re: Oil Changes
Just got mine changed today at Audi. It cost me 130 all taxes in for synthetic. From my experience, it is usually a good practice to change synthetic every 8000km... might be good to check the oil around the 7000 range to make sure it looks ok... just a thought...
