Has anyone upgraded the alarm system on the A4 using the same OEM transmitter?

(My watch alarm is much louder than my OEM alarm system and I would like to get it changed without adding another transmitter)

Best Buy said no, A&B sound said it cost too much money and they may refuse to install it in the car due to the computer system... huh?

I think there were some posts in the past about changing the OEM siren to a louder one over at AudiWorld; maybe you can do a search there and see if you can turn up something?

Isn't the factory alarm hooked up to the horn? If so, it's really tough to upgrade, as you can't just add a siren... it's a more intricate process. You'd have to find some small shop or private installer that would attempt to do it. I wouldn't think a store would take a risk on that. It would be a pretty customized job.

Not on the B6, which I gathered from RnR's comment about it being not loud enough that he has.

Akula-ssh is correct it does have a siren and it is located under the heat shield near the right muffler. Akula-ssh is your alarm system loud or is it pretty quiet as well. I want to upgrade because I had another Jk-*** screwed up my lock and my door handle on the driver’s side. I looked into utilizing the back left passenger door handle instead (Without the lock mechanism) but I’ll have to do some modifications.

I haven't upgraded my siren RR, unfortunately. One of these days I might just look harder in to it though. As to the door handle problem, there was at least one AW member who did a low-tech approach and placed a blank to cover up the key hole. Another option that was talked about (not sure if anybody implemented this) was to order a door handle from the UK, since they drive on the other side of the road. Whatever you do, make sure you have some way of opening the door if your remote battery goes dead; people on AW talked about setting up lead wires with relatively easy access under the car for that purpose.
