Default Jet Jocket TIP and DSMIC installed at Matrix

Went down to Matrix on Monday to get my DSMIC and Jet Jockey Turbo Inlet Pipe installed. There has been enough posts about DSMIC installs so I won't bore you with those details so here is some info about the TIP.

Here's a pic of it in the box.

Now it didn't come with any instructions and I did confirm I with Jet that I got the newer revision of his TIP.

When Corey (Matrix tech) took the OEM TIP off and compared it to Jet's we saw that there are 5 nipples on the OEM unit and 5 nipples on JJ TIP but the locations of the ones on the JJ unit are not in the same places. Corey told me it isn't a big deal since the pipe isn't under any pressure so fabricating some hoses to connect the TIP to whatever it needs to connect to can be done.

Now I'm pretty sure Jet moved the locations of the nipples on his TIP for a reason so hopefully he can post about that for us later.

When he tried to install the unit we had a fitiment issue... well more like the top blue hose was too long. Now Jet built this and I'm sure it should have been a plug and play solution but for some reason it didn't fit. (As an aside I needed to cut a bit of my front belly pan to clear my H-Sport sways so I already knew my car was 'special')

Why didn't it fit? Well the hose that connects to the airbox was too long (bottom blue hose in the above pic) so if it was put in place the bottom hose that connects to the turbo was too far away. So the solution was to cut away part of the top blue hose.

Corey was lucky enough to have a short piece of blue Samco hose lying around and replaced the top piece. This made the pipe fit as it should and it was clamped into place.

Now as I mentioned before the location of the nipples on Jet Jockey's TIP doesn't match the OEM locations. Corey used some blue hosing to connect the nipples on the TIP to whatever location required.

** If someone else who runs Jet's TIP could please comment on if they did the same thing or not. Thanks! **

So in the pics below the blue tube connects to something that needs some air.

And this lower blue tube connects to a sensor cluster

So everything was clamped down and the DSMIC was installed and I prepared to take a nice 4.5 hour drive home which gave me lots of time to test out the new mods.

So does the DSMIC and TIP work? Yes. In an incredible way.

I'm pretty sure it is more DSMIC than the TIP that is providing more performance but now I understand just how much power/torque is lost by heat soak on the single OEM IC setup

Before the installation my APR Stage 1+ setup would pull but around 5000rpm it would back off. After a couple of hard pulls on the highway the car just felt a tad sluggish and didn't really want to go anymore.

With the DSMIC and TIP the car now pulls way past 5000rpm in all gears and ALL the time. In 3rd, 4th and 5th gears I can hit the accelerator and feel the car just go and go and go.

Entering the highway from an onramp is unreal. Shift to 2nd and then 3rd, slam the pedal down and I just am amazed at how effortlessly the car accelerates and keeps accelerating until I shift into 4th.

I did dyno my car last Friday and got a baseline down for the 94 octane program. I plan to go back and redyno the car and I'll post both graphs when I get a chance.

Next mod? Time to graft the B5S4 wheel vents to help with the IC ventilation and if it looks easy enough I'll have the plastic plant makes some for everyone to bolt on.

I wish to thank Jeremy and Corey at Matrix. Super friendly guys, very accomodating and go the extra step to make sure things are done right.

Hey MC,

I'm following you around

Please post your baseline numbers when you get a chance. FYI, mine with APR 1+ only (before ATP TIP and Milltek) were 168 HP and 207 ft/lbs. I never went back to get the after figures and now my mods are completely different so I'll never know what the true affect of the "better breathing" had on my car.

Cheers,

Steve
