Jerky / Stutter noise

Re: Jerky / Stutter noise
Thanks again 1move. My first self-fix was a success.
I picked up the coils from Audi yesterday and managed to replace them myself.
The jerky/stutter engine was still present after replacing them, but I took it for a test drive and it did not occur again.
Here is the guide I followed:
AudiWorld Forums: How to replace a coilpack on a B6 1.8T and how to figure out which one to replace...
can also go w/ this one:
VWvortex Forums: DIY: 1.8T Coilpack and Spark Plug Change.
I'm not sure if those guides are already on here, might be a good idea to put them in this forum as reference. Saved $$ on labour + having to drive the car to the mechanic.

Re: Jerky / Stutter noise
Just in case your problem comes back I had exactly the symptoms you're describing caused by a vacuum check valve that had broken. The suction would hold the two halves together at anything above idle and it would run fine. At idle it would rev up and down and CEL would flash. Valves are $60 from Audi but about $20 online.

Re: Jerky / Stutter noise
i had a little bit of a sputter when i took off it seemed like the rpms dropped real quick when the gear engaged. i replaced the coils got them from volkswagon 40 vs 36 for ones from the part store. it ran amazing after just remember to un hook the battery for a bit to reset the comp to clear any codes that come up. also i replaces a valce that was cracked on my intake but it seems that just helped my gas millage i would tell youi the name but i don't know it we figured it out by part number. hopefully that helps
