I’m at 180k on my 99.5 A4 1.8T and my clutch is slipping mostly in 5th but sluggish in every other gear. Looking to replace it and wanted to know if its worth while going for the aftermarket clutch (STAGE 1, 2, 3 - F1, XTD, Sachs etc?) or if I just pay full pop on a stock Audi clutch.
I’m really looking for as much info as I can get - I’m more lost now then I was when I started researching. 50% of people have said the fly wheel should be machineable and the best quote I got was $600 for new Audi clutch with machined fly wheel... at the end of the day I need a clutch and any help/advice is appreciated.

when it comes down to it, its all up to you! how much longer are you going to keep it??? if its a yaer or two or even 3 years i would spend less if its more spend more.

I'm having the same problem with my 3.0 i got less then 8 months ago. It only has 90000km!!! i'm kinda wondering what to do as well. Help.

I have no real plans to get rid of this car but who knows a few years for now - that said, I can’t believe that a more expensive clutch is necessarily better quality. My real concern is what manufacture should I stay away from or put my trust in?

Also is it wise to spend more on aftermarket or stock??

I was recommended to go with stage 1 at most due to the fact I have no plans in moding my car.

I have 260,000 km on my 2000 A4 1.8T and that includes tracking it over the last five years.

254,000, still on original clutch. Am kind of amazed.

I have a 2000 A4 2.8 with 32,973 miles. Car is babied (I am 64 years old). Clutch, flywheel had to be reaplaced. Also rear springs. Car was purchased new. Very disappointed in this vehiche. This is our 5th Audi and also currently have an A8.

I have an 2003 A4 with 80k and with the Stage1+ it has really started to slip. Im taking it in today to have it looked at....Hopefully it will still be under warranty and Ill have to pay 200 bucks if not then I might go for a stage 1 or 2 clutch kit.

Will post quote for stock replacement just as an FYI for you guys..

Im getting the whole kit replaced with a conversion to a solild flywheel. So that if anything happens again I can get it resurfaced.

Got my new clutch in today and Im having a hard time driving, Im stalling alot...lol

It seems very graby, mabey I was just so use to driving with a crap clutch
