Default Help! Steering groan noise...am I too late?

For the last few weeks I've noticed that my car made a slight goaning sound when turning at low speed (parking).

Since I'm a dumb ***, I never thought about checking the power steering fluid level. I let the car run like that for a while and today my car made the groaning sound as I was backing out of my driveway this time it was quite loud.

I finally realized that I should check the power steering level and it was dry. The dipstick is completly dry but I can still see some fluid in the bottom of the reservoir.

Thankfully, I live 1KM from Mississauga Audi, so, I'll get some fluid and top it up.

However, am I too late. Did I bugger up my car. I'm sitting at home freakin' out

BTW, the car does drive fine... at least is seems to. Needless to say, I'm not driving it one more inch until I can get the fluid I need.

Great! Thanks! So I topped it up this morning. I guess it wasn't as far down as I thought. I bought 1ltr of fluid and it only took around 1/4 of the bottle. All of the strange groaning noises were gone by the time I drove out of the dealership and everything looks good. Next time I'll be more diligent about checking my fluids.
