Default Gas Cap

hey all i did some searching but i couldn't find a definite answer to this question.

My cluster display is showing the symbol for a missing/loose gas cap (no check engine light) and its been like this for 3 days now, 2 of those days there was heavy rainfall so i assumed (from a pervious thread) that it was causing a sensor or something to misread it as "missing" and that display would correct itself the next day( which was the cure in said thread). Well mine hasn't and im beginning to think i should take it into a shop to check, no gas smell or bent pipe from filling the tank , yes Cap is there i re-tightened it and everything. so im baffled and have no clue. the car runs fine just the display is bugging me :P

P.s : the car has not been filled recently, the display just popped up randomly at half tank and hasn't gone away after.

P.p.s : sorry if there was an answer but i could not find it

Try and find someone with VAG-COM before going to the dealership / shop. Might give you a better idea of what is going on.

Can you post a pic of the warning. I've never seen a loose gas cap warning.

Yeah i heard it could be as simple as that, but on other threads they said that buying a new gas cap didnt solve anything, im just hoping it'll eventually go away, if not i guess ill get it scanned or replace the gas cap

Girlfriend bought it for me not knowing that I got one also. Tried returning one of them and the re-stocking fee was also most the same amount.

Is $25 cool?
