Question Free Check up for Ignition coils

I just received in the mail a letter to state that my car has possible problems with the ignition coils and can be brought in for free service.
Has anyone else received this in the mail? If there is nothing wrong, should I still go in?
Just wondering if it is a scam to get me in and charge me for something else that isn't wrong!
Thank you

Not a scam. Just Audi/VW finally taking ownership and responsibility for 10 year old problem.

From the Audi Canada website: Audi Ignition Coil Inspection & Replacement Program

Audi Ignition Coil
A Voluntary Emissions Service Action

Audi is conducting a voluntary service program to inspect and, if necessary, replace ignition coils installed in some 2001 – 2007
model year vehicles.

The key points of the program are:
  • When your Audi Dealer has sufficient parts in stock, Audi will notify you via First-Class mail.
  • Your authorized Audi Dealer will repair your vehicle for this condition at no cost to you.
  • If you have paid to have ignition coils replaced in your Audi prior to this program, you may be eligible for reimbursement. Details
  • are available on the Reimbursement page of this Web site.
As a valued customer, your satisfaction is our utmost priority. Audi has created this Web site to:
  • Advise you if your vehicle is part of this program.
  • Explain the problem and its solution.
  • Answer your questions.
  • Inform you of program timing.
  • Help you apply for any reimbursement for which you may be eligible.
Please begin by finding out if your vehicle is affected. Simply click on Is My Vehicle Affected?

One of our V6 Audi's is affected by the Coil Campaign. A few of the coils visually inspect OK but a few show significant stem corrosion because the water seal was not effective. I've wondered over the years if this contributes to coil pack failures.

When letter arrives, I'll be going to dealer and asking for new coilpacks!

Got three coilpacks replaced at no charge under this recall. But it's taking far too long for my refund request for the original ones!!!

I called yesterday after reading some of the responses....they told me to come in right away and an hour later they had replaced all of the ignition coils at no charge....I was told that they should be good for about 50-60 k....is that about right?

Should be good for the life of the car, but we all know how that's gone so far.

I just put my VIN number in and it is telling me this

S-emmision service Action: inspect and if necessary replace

anyone know what that means? is it still possible to get this looked at even tho I'm not the original owner? and will it cost me?

Scroll up and read the third post. Doesn't matter that you are not the original owner and it won't cost you. Call a local dealer and let them know and they should look after you.
