RE THE ESP PROBLEM

Just been reading a few other threads.

Is it possible that the brake swith could be causing the brake lights to stay on? Could this also be affecting the ESP aswell?(causing the ESP to not work or causing the ESP light to come on while driving?)

umm, just a dumb answer here. if you are on are on a road with low traction, bit of gravel perhaps, maybe a little snow/ice, and you take off fast, your traction control will kick in. This will automatically cause you to lose power and yes when take your foot off the gas to a more suitable point for the conditions you will retrieve your power. ALSO while this is happening you ESP light will be going on and off respectively.

try turning off your esp (big button that say ESP, the esp light will then stay on) and see if what you are talking about disappears.

Just thought maybe this was being over thought.

I know i said i wasn't the most knowledgable but give us a break rusty.

Just to let you all know what the problem was. I took the car to the garage this morning and all that was wrong was the brake switch. This was causing the ESP light to come on while driving, it was also causing the power to disapear for an instant(If you press the brake while accelarating there is a cut off of the power until you lift off the gas and reapply)The faulty switch was causing this to happen.

Got it fixed today and all is well.

I would recomend any Audi owner who stays in Glasgow or abouts to check out the A4Audi garage in Clydebank. Knowledgable friendly service and considerably cheaper than audi dealer. All trained audi techincans. A for Audi - Audi VW Specialist Glasgow Scotland - A for Audi - Audi VW Specialist Glasgow Scotland

Used them a few times now and highly recomend them!!!

The ESP light shows you when the ESP is active, when detected slipeage so if only comes on from time to time,it might be that in those time you are on slippery surface and the ESP goes on.
If this is the scenario,is nothing wrong with it.
