Default feeling small vibrations at 120 km/h?!

While on the highway the other day, I noticed that my B6 1.8T 5M gets some constant vibrations in the seat/steering wheel when I hit exacty 120km/hr and over. checked tire pressures, they're OK. It feels like you're in one of those massage chairs, very slight vibrations but noticeable...irritating as hell.

Alignment, wheel balancing, check the tire pressures again? I have no real conclusions...

Thx!

when I stepped on it a bit more, to about 140 km/h...same thing happens, not less, not more. Odd that it starts magically at exacty 120 clicks.

something has to be off...It must be something with the suspension/wheels/alignment/tires becuase the engine/trani seems to be in good working order (from city driving even at high rpms).

Drove 350 km from coutts border crossing to calgary at 115 km/h...unsatisfied because I couldnt step on it with the annoying vibrations rattling my headrest.

alignment was my initial thought, but really no clear diagnosis...

My mother's B6 A4 does exactly the same thing, but at 130kms... had the whole car checked out - alignment, wheel balance.. nothing.. on stock rims..

yes, odd...seems like both our B6's just hit a frequency at a certain velocity and just start "resonating", never had this problem in any car before.

Stock wheels and tires or aftermarket?

I had the same problem, turned out to be a wheel balancing issue with the rear wheels....and a tire bulge actually. I'd put my money on those first as they're easiest to check and diagnose.

Hey I have 2000 B5, exact same thing. At 120 Km/h slight shake, but it would dissapear at around 140... So driving on the 401 I had to either drive 110 or 140.... two speeding tickets later I have decided to cope with the problem. I don't imagine it's a problem, but I am upgrading my rims soon, and I'll let you know if that makes a difference, then at least you'll know where to start.

Are they good vibrations LoL!
yeh i got the same problem, supposidly it's the drivline stabilizer, audi will tell you you need a new driveline, but it's a replacable part you can get online. could be a wheel bearing, off balance wheel. For myself i think it's a combination of an off balance tire and the driveline stablizer. And i think my spacers might have something to do with it too.
