Default Engine Oil
1.8T people, what motor oil are you using? ...and what filter? Just polling to see what others are using and to find out what is the best option for engine safety and performance.

The owners manual (I have a 2002 A4) says not to use oils with additives, which discounts Royal Purple....sounds crazy.

I use Castrol Syntec (5w40, I think), and the Audi filter.

I have used the same Castrol Syntec 5W 40 and the OEM Audi filter. Works for me all the time!

I use Mobil 1 and the audi filter on my 2000 A4 S-line. works well for me.
